The trailer for Mar Adentro : "The real-life story of Spaniard Ramon Sampedro, who fought a 30 year campaign in favor of euthanasia and his own right to die." And it's a lowbrow comedy from the writers of Eurotrip! OK, maybe not. It's written and directed by Amenabar, the talented Chilean who did Abre Los Ojos and The Others, who is not known for his lowbrow comedies.
It's a pity that Amenabar didnt take the time and effort to interview Ramon's family members to be able to depict the truth about this couragous man's life - I can say this as I am a relative and the film has a number of mistruths, which unfortunately depict the family in a poorer light. It's obvious that Amenabar has relied greatly on input from Ramona (or Rosa as she is called in the film) - someone who barely knew him!
