The least expected poll data ever. I follow all these trends closely, and poll results rarely catch me by surprise, but this one sure did. Which Presidential candidate is most popular among voters 18-24? The answer? McCain, by a country mile (53-43). Whoa! I thought Obama was supposed to be energizing youthful voters. It turns out that Obama's large national lead is almost solely attributable to his monstrous lead among baby boomers, who favor him 48-36.
The candidates are about even in the other two age groups, with Obama slightly ahead in the 25-44 group and McCain holding a small lead among the geezers.
This seems to contast strongly to the primary results, wherein Obama slaughtered Hillary by nearly 20 points in the youth demographic.
Even in the highly unlikely event that this poll is accurate, McCain picked the wrong group in which to be popular. In the 2004 election, voters 18-24 represented only 9% of all voters, while those 45-65 represented nearly 40%. (Data here.)
Therefore, Obama's 12-point lead among boomers is worth 5 points among all voters, while McCain's alleged 10-point lead in the kiddie klass is worth only 1 point in the total voting population.

One of the Presidential candidates is really electrifying the youth vote.
Scoop you are getting worse and worse on this election. Take a look at the internals. Over 40% of this survey's respondents were evangelicals. Over 40%! Yeah, no flaws with this poll's methodology.
