Oh, joy and rapture. My 1950s dreams, inspired by reading too many copies of Popular Mechanics in the barber shop, are finally coming true. Can my flying car be far behind? Hope so, cuz I'm already creating a retractable roof for my garage.

"Nike recently announced it was actually going to sell the futuristic shoes Michael J Fox wore in Back to the Future Part II. This got me thinking about the incredible world of tomorrow that all of us are living in and taking completely for granted. Ask yourself: Would you rather have an iPad or a hoverboard? I mean, if you could have only one, which would you rather have? Hoverboards look cool and all, but they are really just all-terrain skateboards that most kids would get sick of in a day or two. But an iPad or an iPhone or really any “smart” gadget with a touchscreen is like magic to most people! And with a good Wi-Fi connection, they let you do just about anything. The internet might turn out to be the most important invention in history, or at least since written language. But when the internet was actually first created most people thought the future was going to include all kinds of flying crap. The reality is that a person can now use Google Earth to fly anywhere on the planet without getting out of bed, but that most people would say they have better things to do."
Scoop's response:
All very wise, indeed.
But I still want my flying crap.
