2.3% identified as gay or bi-sexual, while the other 1.1% could not or did not answer. The 2012 Gallup Poll returned numbers of 92.2%, 3.4% and 4.4%, respectively. I don't know why this new survey seems to include such a small number in the "don't know, refuse to answer" category.
Some of the other data in the survey surprise me: gay and bi-sexual people seem to smoke and drink far more than straights.
Lacking any hard evidence, I would have guessed that gay men were more health-conscious than straights. That is true of their exercise habits, but not of their consumption of alcohol and tobacco.
The substance use differential is especially large among women. Gay and bi-sexual women seem to be about twice as likely as straights to be smokers or heavy drinkers. I guess that doesn't surprise me since it conforms to established societal stereotypes.

"96.6% of American adults identified are 'straight'"
96.6% of American adults identified are 'straight'.
The interviews are conducted face to face. I wonder how many people answered dishonestly. Maybe it's because I'm from Los Angeles, but that number seems ridiculously low. I would have assumed a minimum of 12%
