Carl Paladino Says Racist Email About Obamas Was Only Meant For His Friends | The Huffington Post

Carl Paladino Says Racist Email About Obamas Was Only Meant For His Friends

Oh, well. In that case, no harm done.

By the way, this is the same guy who e-mailed the horse-fucking video and had it come to light during his ill-conceived run for NY Governor a few years back.

He remarked in his unapologetic apology: "I certainly am not a racist.”

Has anyone ever come out and said "OK, I am a racist"? I know three or four acquaintances who don't know that I am in a way a member of a certain minority, because they don't know about that part of my family, and it's not something you can guess by looking at me. Each of them has made ugly stereotypical remarks about that particular minority. I might just let those remarks wash over me if they were just silly bad jokes uttered in jest, but these guys really believe what they are saying. Yet none of them thinks of himself as a racist. I wonder if they think it's possible for anyone to be a racist. If so, I'd love to hear them explain how that hypothetical racist's behavior would be different from their own. Of course, that'll never happen because I'll never confront them.

  1. Many people think you're not a racist unless you actually:

    1) burn a cross on someone's lawn
    2) scream racial epithets in public
    3) actively attack people of different ethnicities or religions and beat them.

Anything else, they think, is just "What everybody thinks, but only we have the courage to say."

In other words, "We're not racists, we're just not politically correct."

This is how it works and we're going to see a lot of it in the age of Trump Triumphalism. If you don't like what you are, just change the definition and say that everyone else is wrong, biased, or a libtard.

    1. In the Paladino world-view, it would not be racist to burn a cross on someone's lawn if you were wearing your KKK robes, because then you don't mean to make your sentiments public, and only your fellow Klansmen know your opinions. It would only be racist if you did it without the hood. Remember the Paladino Philosophy: it's not what you say that makes you racist, but who you share it with!
