Ranker: Best American Restaurant Chains

Ranker: Best American Restaurant Chains

A bizarre list. Way too much love for DQ and Wendy's, too little for Outback, Five Guys, Bonefish Grill and In 'n' Out.

I'm not sure what their mathematical model is, but they should consider changing it. KFC is rated #8 with a net score of -54 while Outback is way down at #20 despite a net score of +275. The model makes no sense because the two chains have about the same number of plusses, but KFC has twice as many minuses!

  1. I suspect their goal is to get views instead of coming up with sensible rankings.

  2. First off, the site sucks. There is so much advertising running that the content and the comments barely work. And don't go telling me my internet speed is too slow. I'm on a 300 meg cable line. And the advertising never stops running! It is a constant flow.

Now, as to this list. It is glaringly obvious that whoever made it has never been to these hamburger places or has no taste buds. To put the likes of Wendys, 5 guys, Burger King (of all places), In and Out, A&W, White Castle, Carl’s Jr (and they have Hardee’s on there also, which ranks the same chain twice, btw), and Jack in the Box in front of Whataburger is ludicrous to say the least.

Was the ranking even based on the taste of the burgers or was it exclusively on things like how much money each chain makes every year or something?

I have been to all of these chains and Whataburger’s namesake burger is heads and tails above all the rest. It is a good sized, nicely seasoned patty that is made right the first time every time, unlike the other chains that rarely get things right, sometimes even after several tries.

I recommend whoever made the list should ignore the financials and actually go eat at these chains, they might be surprised.
