Years before Obama, several psychological studies had shown that conservatives are far more easily frightened than liberals.
DeleteI personally don't consider easily frightened people who give in to irrational fears to be 'real men' as you seem to.
I imagine this would be how a conversation with them might go: "I'm a real strong man. Wait, is that a Muslim there? Hide me!"
