NFL Football Scores - Week 8
I'm not up on football records the way I am on baseball, but I think the total passing yardage for both teams in that Seattle-Houston game has to come pretty close to a record. I remember reading that there has never been a game with 900 yards passing. DeAndre Hopkins had 224 receiving yards for Houston in that game, as Houston's Deshaun Watson passed for 402 yards, which is incredible for only 30 attempts, especially because there were four TDs in the process. But Russell Wilson topped that with 452 yards and 4 TDs of his own. Moreover, Wilson threw only one pick and was only sacked twice, while Watson's big day was marred by three picks and five sacks.
(READER COMMENT: There wasn't a 900 yard game until 2012, when you had a 933 yard game and a 1000 yard game weeks apart. 854 yards, as impressive as it seems, may not even be in the top 10. That was in the 2011 season, not 2012. The 1000 yard game was on 1/1/2012.)
Houston out-rushed the Seahawks (142 to 33), had more runback yards (103 to 43), and had fewer penalty yards (93 to 120), so Seattle's victory can be traced back directly to those three interceptions, especially the 78-yard pick-six by Earl Thomas.
As expected, the Browns (0-8), 49ers (0-8) and Colts (2-6, and guess who the two narrow victories were against) continued to embarrass themselves, although the Colts at least made it a game this week.
The Eagles won, and still stand all alone as the only 7-1 team on the top of the mountain.
