Trump, of course, is completely ignoring the fact that Google, Facebook and Twitter have verified much of Russia's interference in excruciating detail.
Good thing Google, Facebook and Twitter are not doing the investigation. Personally I wouldn't trust anything I read on any of those sites. And if there is so much evidence of collusion and all, why hasn't Mueller found anything even remotely close to it?
This isn’t about collusion or Mueller. It’s about whether the Russians manipulated social media before the election, which is a different investigation.
You're a little out of the loop here, aren't you Al? The Mueller investigation was (is) to determine if the Russians colluded in any manner, with the Trump campaign or anybody else to influence or affect the 2016 election. The fact is interesting that he has uncovered absolutely nothing in that matter but has managed to find a lot of old (possible) crimes committed by people who were not associated with the Trump campaign when they allegedly committed said crimes.
But yeah, the Mueller investigation is supposedly about Russians manipulating social media to influence the election.
Gent, you're missing the point, and you don't understand what the Mueller investigation is supposed to do).
There is absolutely no doubt that Russia tried to manipulate the election to aid Trump. In addition to the intelligence gathering techniques used by our appropriate agencies, we know which social media accounts they used; we know which ads and memes they planted; and we know precisely when they were planted and the exact IP address where they originated (not to mention the exact street address as well).
We also know for sure that Putin has lied to Trump several times about Russia' efforts (unless Putin admitted it and Trump lied to us about what Putin said, which I guess is a distinct possibility given that Trump seems to be a pathological liar.)
BUT
There are other things we do not know:
1. We don't know whether they succeeded. It is fair to ask, "Did that actually change the outcome of the election?" I have not seen any analysis that shows Hillary would have won without Russian interference. We simply don't know, and I have not formed an opinion.
2. We don't know whether the Russians tried to manipulate the election on their own, or whether any Trumpies participated in the process. And THAT is the job of the Mueller investigation.
In other words, we know the Russians did it, and Mueller's job is to determine if any Trumpies helped.
Taking out a few thousand dollars in Facebook ads is hardly interference, and if America can be swayed by a few memes on Facebook, then we deserve what we get.
It's a wee bit more than that, but it's not like anyone not still stuck with the idea that Hillary can be voted in thinks they swayed things. They wanted chaos, to keep us unstable. They didn't start the fire, but they threw some kerosene on it. Mission accomplished.
You are correct Justin. There are, believe it or not, people in this country that think if they can just oust Trump from the Presidency that Hillary will waltz right in, as the '1st runner-up' (to use a term from Trump's world).
It is scary that not only do those people exist, they vote and they reproduce!
