"Padilla has admitted that he completed an al-Qaeda training camp application". I want to see what those forms look like. Padilla's application was on the official "Mujahideen Identification Form / New Applicant Form". You wouldn't think al-Qaeda would have so much bureaucracy. Do you think they reject anybody?
