Today saluting the greatest casting choice in movie history: John Wayne as Genghis Khan

It is well-known that this film was Howard Hughes's favorite. Not so well remembered is that it was directed by song-and-dance man Dick Powell! I suppose Powell wasn't all that bad as a director because his other films have decent ratings at IMDB. This one sticks out like a sore thumb:

  • (7.85) - The Enemy Below (1957)
  • (6.55) - Split Second (1953)
  • (6.25) - The Hunters (1958)
  • (2.98) - The Conqueror (1956)
