Weekend Box Office Results for December 15-17, 2006
The Will Smith movie did much better than expected to take the #1 spot. (Hey, people love Will more than just about anybody not named Tom Hanks.) Forecasters had expected it to end up #2 or #3.

Charlotte's Web underperformed significantly, and the studio has to be considering it a major disappointment, given very wide distribution and solid reviews.

The total was 8% below the comparable weekend last year, but that's understandable since there was nothign to compare to lat year's debut of King Kong, which opened with $50 million. (That was less than expected.)
