What reviews? Ghost Rider supplied the fix for a young male audience which had been waiting months for a proper popcorn film. It had been expected to open with $40 million for the four-day weekend, but took in $15 million on Friday alone

Moviegoers were quick to embrace the new films and discard the sorry remnants of the previous six weeks, as this week's releases took five of the top six slots

The top twelve group took in about $40 million on Friday, compared to high twenties the previous week
