Star Wars vs. Battlestar Galactica
Submitter's comments: "I have read a few articles on how youtube is the future of television. The basic premise of these is that broadcast TV is in fatal collapse. Going from 4 channels to 400 has shattered the advertising market. Fewer viewers per show, mean lower ratings, which sends the advertisers fleeing. This reduces capitol, which lowers the quality of the remaining programs. This further reduces viewers, which drives off more advertising money. And so on into the death spiral.
My thinking was, well yes, but there has to be a limit to how far things can fall, just in terms of production quality. I mean look at science fiction. How can you produce decent special effects with a budget of two hundred bucks? Then I saw this. As a scifi geek myself, I can assure you this has to be original content. The Galactica models are all from the original series, they must have scanned in home-built models from the seventies.
