The Bush administration has accelerated its Internet surveillance push by proposing that Web sites must keep records of who uploads photographs or videos in case police determine the content is illegal and choose to investigate.A classic illustration of how the USA thinks it owns the internet, reminiscent of the letters that the movie studios send to Swedish websites informing them of DMCA violations! Obviously, if this sort of thing becomes standard practice in the USA, the business will simply go elsewhere. Rapidshare, for example, is already in Germany, so people will simply place objectionable content there (as I'm sure they already must do.)
