Zee News - First habitable Earth like planet outside Solar System discovered

Scientists find the first habitable Earth-like planet outside the Solar System
"The planet has a radius only 50 percent larger than Earth and is very likely to contain liquid water on its surface."

That's the good news. The bad news is kind of complicated. This planet is very close to its star and its "year" lasts only 13 days. How could it be similar to our planet? Because its star is a red dwarf, much smaller and colder than Sol, thus allowing the planet to have an Earth-like range of temperatures.

Also interesting is that the star is one of the 100 closest to our own, therefore a reasonable target for future exploration. As one scientist said, "On the treasure map of the Universe, one would be tempted to mark this planet with an X."
