Dirty Dancing tops most watched film poll for women
No surprise here. Dirty Dancing is the film women have seen the most times. Other leaders include Pretty Woman and It's A Wonderful Life.

Star Wars is the film men have seen the most times. Other champs include Alien, Aliens, Blade Runner, The Godfather, T-2, and Die Hard.

This is an interesting idea, because it reflects the movies that people truly love. My list would vary from the mainstream in that it would include less action, more comedy, and is influenced by my children. The films I've watched at least five times would look something like this:

  • The Wizard of Oz. I can't believe this is not #1 on the list. I've seen it at least twenty times, and I don't even like it that much.
  • Casablanca
  • Blade Runner
  • There's Something About Mary
  • The Mask And Ace Ventura, Pet Detective (credit my kids for these two, but I like them as well)
  • Angel Heart
  • The Producers and Blazing Saddles
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Life of Brian
  • The Godfather
  • The Big Lebowski
  • Amelie - probably the only chick-flick I really love
  • The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly
  • Animal House
  • Ed Wood
  • Body Heat
  • Body Double
  • Gorky Park (I can't really explain this one. I just enjoy it.)
  • A Clockwork Orange
  • Goldfinger
  • The Princess Bride
  • A Night at the Opera
  • M*A*S*H
  • Amadeus
  • The Maltese Falcon
  • L.A. Confidential
  • And, it goes without saying, Road House

I'm probably forgetting a few, but that's the general flavor of it. Not any highbrow stuff at all. I did enjoy Andrei Rublov and The Seventh Seal and Grand Illusion, but have no urge to watch them again.

Movies I would watch again right now, and have been meaning to re-watch, but have not watched five times: Groundhog Day, Once Upon a Time in America, and two by Guiseppe Tornatore - Malena and The Legend of 1900.

Great movies which I have never seen or never watched all the way through: The Seven Samurai, Sunset Boulevard, The Return of the King

I have also seen Dirty Dancing at least twenty times. I hate it, but I always choose it when a date wants to watch a movie. I also hate dancing, but always dance with my date along with the movie. I'm sure you know why. Sometimes you have to go a long distance out of the way to come back a short distance correctly.
