Lucky You (2007)

Was Lucky You the worst box office performer in history?

I'm not sure because Box Office Mojo does not have a list of all films in 2500 or more theaters. It does have a list of all films in 3000 or more and the worst opening weekend in that group was amassed by Hoot, that "kids save the owls" thingy from last year. Hoot did $3.3m in its opening weekend. Lucky You easily beat that with $2.5m, but was in fewer theaters.

Adjusting for the distribution, we find that Lucky You did do less per theater. Hoot did $1116 per theater, Lucky You did only $996!

At this point, I do not know whether there was a poorer performer in the group with 2500-3000 theater distribution. I wrote their webmaster with that question. I'll let you know what he says.
