Clete and his brother Ken, both third basemen, were the first brothers to homer in the same World Series (1964). Clete was a mediocre hitter who batted eighth on the great 1961 Yankees team, but that's not really so embarrassing, considering the competition. There wasn't much opportunity to move up. The guy who batted seventh (Moose Skowron) had 28 homers and 89 RBI!What he lacked with the lumber, he made up with the leather. Clete could play third base better than anyone except Brooksie, and after he left the Yankees he even had one really good offensive year, amassing 26 homers and 96 RBI for the Braves in 1967.
