Weekend Box Office Results for July 20–22, 2007
No great surprises, other than the unexpected strength of Hairspray, which came in about 30% above expectations to finish a close third behind the heavy hitters.

Chuck and Larry won the race against Potter because the latter dropped faster than expected. The Potter films are events for the fans of the Potter lore, so the box office tends to be heavily front-loaded. The experts counted on a substantial "second week drop," but the decline was a bit steeper than expected (almost 60%).
