Warhorse Studley would have been a great name for a tough old baseball great from the turn of the century - somebody like Joe McGinnity or John McGraw. Unfortunately, the real Warhouse Studley was triply cursed:
- His lifetime batting average was .095. (As were his slugging and on-base averages.)
- He played for a team that lost every game. No, not only the games he played in. They lost every game they ever played!
- He died about a year later. The Baseball Encyclopedia doesn't specify his cause of death, but I figure the ol' Warhorse broke his leg and they had to put him down.
