ESPN - Glavine keeps streaking Mets on winning track - MLB

Ol' Man Glavine just keep rollin' along
He carried a perfect game into the sixth, ended up with a dominant win and raised his record to 13-6. Pretty impressive for an old coot.

Tom Glavine's 303 wins place him fourth among all lefthanders who have ever pitched. Spahn, Carlton, and Plank are the only ones above him. Four pitchers have won more games than Spahnie, but they were all right-handed. (And they all pitched in the distant past. The last to retire was Pete Alexander in 1930).

If one skips over all the records of pitchers who never won a game after 1929, the top ten list looks like this

  1. Spahn 363
  2. Clemens 354
  3. Maddux 344
  4. Carlton 329
  5. (t) Ryan 324
  6. (t) Sutton 324
  7. Niekro 318
  8. Perry 314
  9. Seaver 311
  10. Glavine 303

As you can see, two active pitchers are #2 and #3 among all pitchers of the last 75 years.
