Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees include no rockers or rollers.

Well, except the Dave Clark Five, and Jann Wenner apparently already threw out a vote in which the classic British invasion group was voted in. He changed it for another round that favored rappers Grandmaster Flash.

The rest of the nominees include Madonna, Lawrence Welk, L'il Wally the Polka King, Leonard Cohen, Mitch Miller, Jim Nabors, Slim Whitman and Zamfir - Master of the Pan Flute.

I'm kidding, SORT OF. Cohen really was nominated - there's one hard-rockin' dude! So was Madonna. There's no Lawrence Welk, but the real nominees are just as bad. Rappers, dance musicians, folkies, disco stars ...

Here are some people NOT in the running: Leon Russell, Mitch Ryder, Tom Jones, Tina Turner, Lou Reed, Steve Miller, Ben E King, Chubby Checker (!!!), Joe Cocker (!!!), Ringo Starr (!!!)

Disco queen Donna Summer is nominated, not Motown legend Diana Ross. Figure that one out. I guess Motown is not rock, but disco is. Coulda fooled me.

By the way, that headbangin' Pete Seeger is already in. I guess they needed a banjo player for the annual sing-along.
