Weekend Box Office Results for November 23–25, 2007

Weekend Box Office Results for November 23–25, 2007
It was an excellent weekend, rising to a level above the Thanksgiving weekends of the previous two years. That is a tremendous surge, because last week was about 30% below last year, and nearly 50% below 2005!

Enchanted and This Christmas managed between them to be almost 18 million dollars above the Warrior's estimates, led by This Christmas which came in at better than double the expectation level.

The expansion of the Coen film also went well, and that film came in 50% above expectations.

The only real disappointment of the weekend was the Stephen King film, The Mist, which came in far below expectations (predicted: third place; actual: ninth) despite good reviews. Hitman had a wishy-washy opening amid all the good news, so it seems that the filmgoers' cravings on this Thanksgiving weekend centered on light, sentimental, and family fare, not horror or violence.
