» Former Major Leaguer Jim Leyritz Charged with DUI and Vehicular Homicide
Leyritz was a utility man for the Yankees teams of the 90s. Although he never batted as many as 400 times in a season, he stayed in the majors 11 years by playing anywhere he was needed: catcher, first, third, outfield, or even an occasional game at second base. His best two seasons were 1993-94 when he had 508 at bats for the two years added together, roughly equivalent to one full season, during which he contributed 31 homers and 111 RBI while batting about .290 and slugging over .500. He never made the all-star team but for that two-year period he was basically a half-time all-star.
