Weekend Box Office Results for December 28–30, 2007
Given that Christmas and New Year's fall on Tuesdays, I'm not sure the intervening weekend is all that meaningful. You have to think of the period from December 21- Jan 1 as about a 12-day weekend. Be that as it may, there are some conclusions you can draw.

Alien Vs Predator did not live up to its weekend prediction, but had a tremendous opening day. It was front-loaded, like most fanboy movies, but word of mouth must have been quite weak. The reviews would support that position.

That freakin' Chipmunk movie is just kicking royal ass. It pulled ahead of I Am Legend after losing to it last week, and almost managed to take the top spot from National Treasure

I Am Legend has nothing to be ashamed of. It finished the weekend a hair under $200 million. It will finish the 2007 calendar year in the top ten despite the fact that some of its revenues will accrue in 2008 while the other nine all closed before year's end.

Juno is the little movie that could. It DOUBLED its predictions and beat every other film (20 or more theaters) in the average per theater category. It finished fifth in the total revenue category although it is in its fourth week and was only tenth last week!
