They assembled a good list, but it's focused on actors. They missed such obvious ones as Caleb Deschanel's astounding cinematography for The Patriot (which won the Cinematographer's Guild award) and my all-time favorite, Gershwin's loss. Gershwin had never won an Oscar and was up for one at the 1938 ceremony for "They Can't Take That Away From Me." He died before the ceremony. Now you'd think that would be the perfect time to honor his lifetime of having written that song and so many other songs that are still sung constantly today.Nah! The Oscar went to some gimmicky novelty song which was forgotten about a day after the awards. ("Sweet Leilani" from Waikiki Wedding)
EW had an opportunity to list 100 snubbed performances. They listed Molly Ringwald in Sixteen Candles but failed to recognize Jack Lemmon as Shelly "The Machine" Levene in Glengarry Glen Ross. It's bad enough that Oscar snubbed Lemmon (the Academy nominated Pacino's Ricky Roma in the Supporting Actor category instead), but I'm definitely boycotting EW now for being staffed by a bunch of pinheads.
