If your family came to this country from Germany, Italy, Scandinavia, Holland or the Slavic countries (and several other places), they probably passed through this portal to America during this time period. Both of my grandfathers could theoretically be in those pictures somewhere.

I left Ireland off the list because the bulk of Irish immigration occurred in the late 19th century. Same experience, but a different time frame.
