The Weekend Warrior's predictions and analysis for the upcoming weekend.

  • Kung-Fu Panda: #1; $52 million in 4100 theaters.
  • The Zohan: #2; $39 million in 3400 theaters.

The recap from ROTTEN TOMATOES shows 86% positive reviews for the animated panda and 34% positive for Sandler.

Adam Sandler rarely gets good reviews, so I'm not sure how to interpret that. There were some very positive notices. For example, Newsday said the film was "Crude, idiotic, ridiculous -- in other words, flat-out hilarious, and Sandler's funniest film in years." The NY Times said, "Let me be blunt: You Don’t Mess With the Zohan is the finest post-Zionist action-hairdressing sex comedy I have ever seen." (I can confirm that to be true without having seen it since, whether better than Casablanca or worse than Manos, it is the Citizen Kane of post-Zionist action-hairdressing sex comedies.)
