You could make an argument that he is the third best switch-hitter in history, behind only Mantle and Cool Papa Bell, although Eddie Murray and Pete Rose might choose to dispute that.Chipper's lifetime adjusted OPS is 1.45, compared to 1.29 for Murray and 1.18 for Rose.
Chipper also has a decent case as the best-hitting third baseman of all time. His 1.45 adjusted OPS is better than Brett or Boggs (both in the 1.3s), and is comparable to Mathews (1.43) and Schmidt (1.47)
(Side note: Cool Papa Bell never played in the majors, but imagine Ichiro as a switch hitter, darken the flesh tones, and you have a perfect mental picture of Bell. They are almost identical in all respects.)
