"The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declared open season for fantasy-sports companies. The court's decision solidifies the rights of fantasy-sports companies to run their businesses without having to buy licenses from the major sports leagues or their players' unions."Sometimes justice is actually just. In getting greedy, MLB not only lost their exclusive right to control their stats and names, but they will undoubtedly lose all the revenues they've already been receiving from companies like Yahoo. The court has basically opined that nobody has to pay to use sports statistics because they are essentially news items.
MLB not only blew it for themselves, but for the NBA, NFL and everyone else who had been receiving licensing fees for their stats and roster names.
