I second:
- Newspapers, which now serve no purpose except tradition. There are still people who grew up with that medium and want to continue using it. I have not bought one in years. (I MIGHT buy a local paper if I still lived in the town where I grew up.)
- Phone books. Why the hell do they still exist? And why are there so many different ones? I throw them immediately into "recycling," and they must account for about 99% of the total contents of that bin.
I would add:
- Fax Machine. They served a purpose before e-mail became so slick, but why do they still exist? I just tossed my old fax machine in the trash about two weeks ago. It still works, because a "junk fax" would appear now and then, but I don't think I used it once during this entire millennium.
