Keeler's record remained unmatched for a while. He set it from 1894 to 1901.Ichiro has had a quiet season, hitting .313 and dropping his lifetime average to .331, but maybe I should note that he's 43 for 47 in stolen bases, and that .331 is the third highest lifetime average among players whose entire careers occurred after WW2. He trails only Gwynn and Pujols.
Within a few days Ichiro should also have reached 100 runs scored for the eighth consecutive year, which is an impressive achievement when you consider the Mariners' puny offense. They are the second-lowest team in the AL in runs scored. Imagine how many runs Ichiro might score if he led off for the Rangers.
