- SNEAK PREVIEW: The Express 700 sneaks on 10/4. True-life football drama starring Dennis Quaid and Rob Brown. It's the story of Ernie Davis, the superstar running back who was Jim Brown's successor at Syracuse, and the first black man to win the Heisman. He died of leukemia before he could play a single professional game. NOTE: Jim Brown never won the Heisman. The possibility of racial discrimination against Brown is part of the story of the film. Brown lost in his senior year to Paul Hornung, who was a helluva player his own self, as we say in Texas, but that doesn't explain how Brown could have finished FIFTH, behind a center from Oklahoma.
