ROTTEN TOMATOES: Opening This Week

ROTTEN TOMATOES: Movies opening this week

  • Madagascar 2: 63% positive reviews, 4000+ theaters. Kiddie movie sequel from Dream Works.
  • Role Models: 71% positive reviews, 2700 theaters. Crude lowbrow comedy with a sentimental overlay, in the tradition of the Farrellys. Stars Paul Rudd, McLovin, and Stifler. Early reviews are quite good, including praise from Roger Ebert, who said, "Role Models is the kind of movie you don't see every day, a comedy that is funny. The kind of comedy where funny people say funny things in funny situations, not the kind of comedy that whacks you with manic shocks to force an audible Pavlovian response."
  • Soul Men: 45% positive reviews, 2000 theaters. "Two former backup soul singers, Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) and Floyd (Bernie Mac), travel cross country to perform at a tribute concert in honor of their famous former band leader."

On a side note, Molly Hartley did NOT score the coveted 0%. It received exactly one positive review, from Tony Wong of the Toronto Star.
