Madagascar 2 was spectacular. With $63m, it crept into the top five of all time for November openings, and three of the four better ones were Harry Potter films released for Thanksgiving.Madagascar was 9 million above the Warrior's prediction and Role Models also performed far better than expected (50+% or seven million dollars)
Soul Men fell below expectations. The predicted range was third place, ten million. It lumbered into sixth with less than six million.
The weak performance of Soul Men was not nearly enough to put a damper on a great weekend. Led by Madagascar's unseasonably strong performance, the aggregate was 30% above last year's comp.
