After scoring solid ratings with the awards ceremony on Sunday, NBC announced that it will air the Golden Globes five nights per week at 9 PM. “The Golden Globes Daily” will serve as the lead-in for “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” which the network is moving to 10 PM nightly starting in the fall.“Even though it posted record low ratings, the Golden Globes still did better than 90% of the crap on our schedule,” noted NBC Entertainment co-chairman Ben Silverman. “As a result, we’re thrilled to bring viewers the excitement every night.”
In a twist to accommodate the new schedule, “Golden Globes Daily” will honor the best film and TV entertainment from the previous 24 hours. Monday episodes will be labeled “Golden Globes Weekend Spectacular” and will give awards for films, programs, and performances from the past 72 hours.
Silverman said several hosts are under consideration. He declined to give any specific names, though he did mention “we really hope we won’t have to resort to Carson Daly.”
