Eh, I dunno. I kinda like Waterworld, even though it lost a gazillion dollars, and the only thing wrong with Showgirls is that it wasn't meant to be a comedy. But I don't think we should evaluate a work but what it was meant to be, but by what it is. Otherwise, we're stuck with Crime and Punishment as a really unfunny comedy. That Doestoevsky was actually a zany guy who would do anything for a laugh. He just wasn't really good at it, and it all came out tragic. Think of him as the Russian Jimmy Fallon.
