Not to worry. The English are resolved to overcome the problem. The prime minister has made an inspirational speech: "We shall defend our island, whatever the cost of cheese may be. We shall fight in the pastures. We shall fight in the barns. We shall never surrender, and more important, we shall never run out of dairy products."

Fortunately, cows are poor swimmers, so France has not yet seen a need to surrender.
