1. Over a period of seven consecutive years, he averaged .360 on the road, with an average of 19 road home runs per year.
2. He played within the past 20 years, not in the 20s or 30s.
3. If I placed his road stats side-by-side with Pujols', you would not be able to guess which was which. (In fact, I believe you would guess wrong!)
I will be surprised if anyone knows how good a hitter this guy was, because he played his career in difficult offensive parks. Although it is not widely known, it is possible to argue that he is among the ten best right-handed hitters of all time. He could kick one of these guys off the list: Pujols, Hornsby, Foxx, DiMaggio, Delahanty, Mays, Aaron, Wagner, Lajoie, and Manny. (The other contenders for the list are Frank Robinson, Frank Thomas, McGwire, Greenberg, Dick Allen, and maybe Bagwell.)
