Back in the 30s we could choose between Stalin and Hitler. Later on we had Pol Pot. The quality of villainy has really deteriorated since then. Hugo Chavez and Kim Jong Il are as bumbling as they are menacing, more comic-opera buffoons than evil masterminds. Could it be Dick Cheney? Meh. Not really evil, just way too scary to be on our side. Admadinejad? Just a figurehead, a mere puppet for the cabal of ayatollahs. Those ayatollahs are probably the greatest threat in the world, but who the hell are they? There's nobody there we can focus on. This leaves us free to despise such relatively innocuous people as Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise ... and the person linked here.
