Avatar is well on its way to another victorious weekend, having won Friday quite easily.

The big disappointment of the weekend is The Tooth Fairy, which was expected to take second with a total in the range of $20 million, mainly on the strength of some powerhouse distribution (3300 theaters). On Friday it took in only three and a half million, which was only good enough for fourth, and was only half as much as the new film which actually finished second, The Legion.

The third new film in wide distribution was Extraordinary Measures, which bombed as expected.

Avatar has now grossed $525 million domestically. It will pass The Dark Knight this weekend, thus becoming the #2 domestic grosser of all time. It is already #2 internationally, and will soon achieve what was considered nearly impossible until very recently - it will become #1. Titanic grossed $1,842,900,000 worldwide. Avatar has already reached $1,719,000,000, and is still going strong.
