The Weekend Warrior's box office analysis for January 22 - 24

Warrior thinks that those overgrown Smurfs will take the top spot again, with some $28m. The competition is very weak:

Tooth Fairy is supposed to provide the strongest competition, with $19m in 3300 theaters. That features The Rock as ... well ... a tooth fairy. 10% positive reviews.

Legion is expected to finish third, with about $17m in 2500 theaters. "When God loses faith in mankind, He sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse." Not pre-screened for critics.

Although it will be in 2500 theaters, Extraordinary Measures is expected to finish a weak 6th with less than $10m. Among the three films in wide distribution, this is the best-reviewed film of the week with a whopping 11% positive reviews.
