Oh, wow. I grew up a few miles north of the exit in the 13th pic (exit 139 off of Interstate 10 in Louisiana). "Grosse Tete" is French for "Big Head." I always heard it was thus named for the confluence of streams into the adjacent bayou of the same name, but there's also a story that it was named after an especially large-craniumed Choctaw who lived in the area when the first Acadians settled there.
