The International Olympic Committee has ordered a blogger to remove a video showing the death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili from his website. It's a copyright defense, but the blogger argues: (1) the footage is newsworthy in general; (2) the footage is potentially evidence of negligence, and it is the putatively negligent people who are trying to suppress that evidence with a copyright claim. It seems to me that Canadian law and public sentiment are in the blogger's favor, but I haven't seen those issues analyzed systematically by experts.
Here's the disputed blog post.
