People are questioning the nutrition info on the new Double Down. It does not seem possible that it could contain only 540 calories, which is KFC's claim.Reader comment:
Actually, when you do the math, the KFC Double Down is probably in the 540 calorie range. Some of the sandwiches I am seeing pictures of do appear larger than others, but the parts of the sandwich do add appear to add up to around 540 calories, give or take, not 1190 as estimated by City Rag.
I looked into it thinking the same thing, but the first mistake that CityRag blog is making is that they think the sandwich is made with deep fried chicken breasts (360 calories & 21 grams of fat according to CR), not deep fried chicken breast filets (170 calories & 9 grams of fat according to KFC).
From there they appear to just mis-estimate sizes of everything from bacon, to cheese and sauce.
In fact, everything on that page is wrong, including confusing the grilled sandwich with the fried one.
I don't know if I believe the numbers from KFC to be honest because I think all of the fast food places are lying about their calorie content to some degree, but I think that the 540 is a lot closer than 1190 calories.
