Fred Olen Ray has 96 films listed in his directorial filmography "sorted by ratings" at the IMDb. The BEST rating among those is 4.38 out of ten. Before he made a western with Mr. Fonda, Fred's previous film (per IMDb) was this year's probable Oscar front-runner, "Bikini Jones and the Temple of Eros." He also wrestles professionally, under the name "Fabulous" Freddie Valentine.

Peter Fonda has an Oscar nomination for his acting. He has another one for his writing. He is a prominent member of one of America's most distinguished acting families. He is one of the spiritual fathers of America's indie movie movement.

I would normally have guessed that Fonda must have some loan sharks at the door, but that guess is probably not the proper explanation for his having taken this job, given that he probably would have made more money working the same number of hours at Burger King. Feel free to make your own guesses. My best guess is that he and Ray must be friends.
