Hi, Scoop. How sad to hear of the death of Dennis Hopper, who made some great movies in his life -- and some pretty crap ones.
As a tribute, I wonder if anyone can find his 1971 film, The Last Movie, set as I recollect in Peru. There is a scene in the film where he and one of the more minor female characters frolic in a waterfall, then retire to the riverbank to make love. I remember an interview in which Hopper admitted this scene was real. He said something like "I touched her, and she was wet, and so it just happened." In the same interview he said that, as Director, he would have loved to leave the "insert shot" in, but that would have been totally disapproved of in 1971. I'd love to see that sequence again (it was sexy enough as I remember, even without the knowledge of its reality, although admittedly I was just out of my teens then so easily impressed). Does anyone have a copy??? What a shame there aren't still some outtakes around! It would be nice to think of Hopper now, beside some celestial waterfall, reliving those moments, all thoughts of prostate cancer cast aside ..."
