The court summarized the case perfectly as follows: "By prohibiting all 'patently offensive' references to sex, sexual organs, and excretion without giving adequate guidance as to what 'patently offensive' means, the FCC effectively chills speech, because broadcasters have no way of knowing what the FCC will find offensive."It has always amazed me that those anti-government nutburgers want to close down so many government institutions, but rarely mention the FCC, which is almost entirely evil, except for the part that is pure boondoggle. I'll bet I could perform all the useful and non-duplicated functions of that agency alone at home on my PC, but the actual agency costs taxpayers nearly $500 million dollars per year.
