There are three new films this weekend, all mediocrities, and none of them are expected to beat Inception or Salt for the top two slots. The three new movies include one screwball comedy aimed at young males, one kiddie flick, and one chick-flick for tweeners. The PG kids' movie, Cats and Dogs, will make it to 3700 theaters. That level of distribution, plus higher 3D ticket prices, will probably make this film the most productive of the three new flicks, but it is expected to max out below $20 million despite those advantages
Charlie St Cloud, a PG-13 chick-flick starring Zefron, will be in 2500 theaters, and will probably not crack the top five. Prediction: $12 nmillion.
Dinner for Schmucks is a PG-13 dick-flick starring Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, and Steve Carrell. It is expected to gross some $17 million in about 2500 theaters.
